Committed to Naturally Produced Mānuka Products

The biggest challenge the Mānuka industry now faces globally is the authenticity and quality of its products. As the “liquid gold rush” continues to gain momentum so too do the replicators trying to get in on this lucrative market, alongside the policy makers trying to keep up with protecting the consumer.

New Zealand Mānuka Group has been leading the way in innovation and quality control since its inception, giving consumers and resellers the information and assurances they now demand. As Group Manager Sales & Marketing, Robin Deal, explains, the Mānuka Originz quality programme alongside scientific research is at the core of everything they do.

“Quality and authenticity underpin our business, and have done from the moment we began building our operations,” says Deal. “We have dedicated our efforts and significant investment into assuring we can track, measure and report on the quality and authenticity of our products from the land to our customers.”

Committed to only supplying naturally sourced and produced Manuka, customers can enter the batch code of any New Zealand Mānuka product into the Mānuka Originz™ website. This will then give them a certificate to download verifying the purity, quality and authenticity of their Manuka honey or oil product.

New Zealand Mānuka Group is the first company of its kind to develop and implement such world-leading quality control technology. While ultimately this gives peace of mind to their resellers and consumers, the benefits are much further reaching; including care for their bee populations, care for the environment and ensuring strict hygiene every step of the way.

“All Mānuka honey contains naturally occurring levels of DHA, MGO and other significant compounds,” Deal advises. “We don’t add anything to our honey, we just filter our products to ensure only 100% natural Mānuka honey is presented to our customers.”

Under the Mānuka Originz™ quality control programme, every hive is fitted with a GPS tracking device.  The recording of information about that hive and the honey produced is carefully entered into customised computer software from the moment the hive is placed on site to the moment the honey is packaged and sent to the reseller.
